Houses of worship can now have access to professional-quality, low-cost lighting control with plug-and-play flexibility. The Unison Echo Lighting Control System from Electronic Theatre Controls (ETC) is a sophisticated yet uncomplicated family of architectural-lighting solutions that can fit houses of worship of any size. The product line is full-featured system that meets today’s requirements for control and energy standards. It includes stations, sensors and power controls that can be customized to any application.

Inspire stations are the elegant face of the Echo system. They come in a range of button and fader options and can be programmed easily by anyone — trained AV staff or volunteers — for preset or custom lighting looks. They can be set for simple on/off functionality in any space or have presets that can recall looks based on the use of a room, low light levels for a prayer gathering, full illumination for classes, varied lighting levels for AV presentations and more. Custom looks can also be created easily for special events, holidays and other occasions.

The Inspire stations work in cooperation with energy- and cost-saving Echo Responsive Controls, which include light sensors that perform daylight harvesting to harness natural light and adjust lighting levels accordingly. In this way, a house of worship can take advantage of natural light streaming through windows without wasting money lighting an already well-lit area. The Echo line also includes occupancy/vacancy sensors to help ensure a space is lit only when it’s in use, which is ideal for such areas as restrooms, storage rooms, and classrooms.

The flexible infrastructure of the control system means Echo power-control products can be installed quickly, without complex commissioning. So, that means no interruption to a venue’s ministry or services. With panel and distributed versions for convenient room- and zone-based lighting, the power controllers can raise and lower lighting levels using distributed system intelligence with no central point of failure.

The Echo Phase-Adaptive Dimmer supports any load type, from tungsten to LED and fluorescent to magnetic, including electronic transformers. This means houses of worship can take advantage of new and emerging technologies. Echo zone controllers with relay, and zero- to 10-volt dimming is also available. An Echo system is suitable for buildings that need to meet current energy codes, including ASHRAE 90.1, CA Title 20/24 and IECC.
